A story written by Louise Chircop in English, Maltese and Arabic. Illustrations by Naomi Gatt. A story which teaches children the different cultures of other children's nationalities living in Malta.
In this highly accessible book, Warda describes her visits to her family in Syria. Beautiful descriptions of Syrian culture are illustrated, both in words andillustrations. The great sense of family and comradeship is described, as wellas traditional foods.
As a teacher with experience working with young students, Louise decided to work on a project which would teach children about the different cultures of children living in Malta with other nationalities. The trilingual nature of this book is what resulted from this wish. With the help of Khaled Riani, who translated Louise’s story into Arabic, Warda’s story could be enjoyed by a wider audience, including children who might see themselves in this little girl with dual heritage.
